Term Occupational Therapist I

Vocational Training for People with Disabilities Office

Major Duties:

(a)  To provide occupational therapy services to students with special educational needs and people with disabilities including assessment, treatment programme planning and implementation, prescription and education of the use of technical aids, provision of consultation service to people with disabilities, preparation of related documentation and communication with related parties;
(b)  To manage, plan and implement occupational therapy service delivery and development;
(c)  To conduct vocational assessment for students with special educational needs and people with disabilities;
(d)  To provide professional advice to various operating units of Shine Skills Centre, other operating units of VTC, various professionals and external organizations on adaptive aids plans, rehabilitation counseling and environmental modification for the students with disabilities; and
(e)  To educate students with special educational needs on occupational health and therapeutic exercises.
      
Requirements:

(a)  Be registered as an occupational therapist and listed in the Register of Occupational Therapists under the Supplementary Medical Professions Ordinance;
(b)  A valid Part I Practicing Certificate issued by the Occupational Therapists Board, Hong Kong;
(c)  At least 3 years’ relevant experience after attainment of the required academic qualification for registration in Part I of the Register of Occupational Therapists;
(d)  Good management, interpersonal and communication skills;
(e)  Be empathetic, patient and caring in working with people with disabilities; and
(f )  Good presentation skills and proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
 
Notes :

(1)  The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
(2)  In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
